The MCP servers give Claude tools such as `you-search`, `you-contents`, `you-research`, and `you-finance`. See the [Docs MCP Server guide](/docs/agents/docs-mcp-server) for setup and examples. ## Install the Plugin ## Add the You.com Marketplace Inside a Claude Code session: ```bash /plugin marketplace add youdotcom-oss/agent-skills ``` This registers the `you-com` marketplace from the [agent-skills repo](https://github.com/youdotcom-oss/agent-skills). ## Install From the Marketplace ```bash /plugin install you@you-com ``` Pick an install scope when prompted. **User** makes the plugin available in every project. **Project** writes it to `.claude/settings.json` so everyone who clones the repo gets it. If the install summary asks you to, run `/reload-plugins`. ## Sign In The first time Claude calls a You.com tool, Claude Code opens a browser window to sign in with your You.com account over OAuth 2.1. You don't need to copy an API key. ## Try It ```text Use you-web to find what's new in the latest TypeScript release, with sources. ``` To install from your terminal instead, for example in a setup script, use the `claude plugin` CLI: ```bash claude plugin marketplace add youdotcom-oss/agent-skills claude plugin install you@you-com --scope user ``` ## What the Plugin Installs **MCP servers.** Run `/mcp` to see them: | Server | Endpoint | Tools | | -------------- | ---------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | `you` | `https://api.you.com/mcp` | Default four: `you-search`, `you-contents`, `you-balance`, and `you-discover` | | `you-research` | `https://api.you.com/mcp/research` | `you-research` | | `you-finance` | `https://api.you.com/mcp/finance` | `you-finance` | The `you` entry is bare `/mcp`, so research and finance are the other two servers. To keep them on one connection instead, allow them on `https://api.you.com/mcp?tools=`. **Skills.** Plugin skills are namespaced under the plugin name, so you can call one directly, such as `/you:you-web`. Cite sources. ``` ```text Extract the content from https://modelcontextprotocol.io/specification and summarize the authentication section. ``` ```text Use you-finance to summarize NVIDIA's most recent quarterly results. ``` ```text Use you-discover to find the best way to add You.com search to a TypeScript agent built on the Vercel AI SDK. ``` ## Keep the Plugin Updated Refresh the marketplace to pick up new skill versions, then reinstall: ```bash /plugin marketplace update you-com /plugin install you@you-com ``` ## Use the MCP Server Without the Plugin If you only want the tools, add the You.com MCP server directly. You get the same tools without the skills. **OAuth (recommended):** ```bash claude mcp add --transport http you-com https://api.you.com/mcp ``` **API key** (useful for CI, scripts, and shared dev containers). Get a key at [you.com/platform](https://you.com/platform): ```bash claude mcp add --transport http you-com https://api.you.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer " ``` **Free profile** (`you-search` and `you-discover`, 100 queries per day, no account): ```bash claude mcp add --transport http you-com "https://api.you.com/mcp?profile=free" ``` ## Troubleshooting #### Plugin not found in marketplace Refresh the marketplace with `/plugin marketplace update you-com` and retry `/plugin install you@you-com`. If `/plugin` isn't recognized, update Claude Code with `claude update`. #### Skills don't appear after install Run `/reload-plugins`, or restart Claude Code. Plugin skills show up under the `you:` namespace. #### OAuth window doesn't open Run `/mcp`, select the You.com server, and choose to authenticate.
